We have several surfers in our church and have a heart for the surf community. We welcome short term mission teams to come and serve within our beautiful land here in Aotearoa.

What a joy and a privilege to see God working through this ministry! What could be more fun than being used to bring people closer to the Love of God. Christian service is an outpouring of the Grace of God in one's life. There is nothing more satisfying on this earth than being used by God as an instrument for His Presence unto other people.

This Bible study is for the Youth in our community. It is inductive & collaborative, invoking questions & discussion about God & His ways. It is a lot of fun & important relationships are developed!

We meet in different homes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays & Fridays. We have Bible studies, prayer time & fellowship. Come to church and find out more.

This is a ministry to Teen mum's in Northland. We serve them on Wednesdays in a antenatal class. We build relationships with them and see them through a tough season in their lives, trying to encourage them to mother God's Way :)

Calvary Chapel Whangarei was planted in April of 2010. Pastor Miguel moved to Whangarei from Huntington Beach, California in 2005. Miguel worked for 4 years in Whangarei. After finishing his commitment in his two other jobs, he was asked to stay in Whangarei and pastor a remnant of Christians wanting to start a new fellowship. He then answered God's call through the voice of the people.

Then little children were brought to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked those who brought them.   

Jesus said, Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these. When he had placed his hands on them, he went on from there.    Matthew 19:13-14

For the six year olds and under, we are blessed to have an on-site fully equipped early childhood center available for our use on Sunday mornings. There is a fully fenced outdoor area including climbing frame and sand pit. A secure, safe indoor area with games, dress up and all the other fun facilities you would expect from a good early childhood center. 

The New Testament clearly teaches  that since resurrection Sunday, all beleivers regularily gathered in the temple or where provided on Sunday, ”The Lord’s Day” (Rev. 1:10) for worship services.

Upward Bound Youth (UBY) is designed for our church youth to grow in the Grace & Love of Christ. UBY encourages youth from all walks of life to participate. UBY meets on Fridays from 4-6pm and is not your stereotypical church youth group.

Background

Miguel was raised in Southern California by his wonderful parents whom were Cuban refugees. In 1963, his courageous parents escaped the painful The Bay of Pigs war. Miguel learned English as a second language through Primary school. He played basketball, football, baseball & surfing throughout his youth, focusing on baseball in High School. He also played NCAA Baseball.

We have a strong emphasis on missions here in Calvary Chapel Whangarei. God has opened a wonderful door for us to minister in one of our neighboring islands, Tonga. We work alongside The Mango Tree Centre for disabilities. We have gone to Tonga every October since 2009. We have now been to Tonga twice and the experiences people have shared are life-changing.
